About Queen Anne House

A particularly splendid example of English domestic architecture, Queen Anne House was built by Thomas Gilbert in 1710 from Portland stone at a time when Sir Christopher Wren had initiated its use extensively in the re-building of London after the great fire.

Located at the doorstep to the Jurassic Coastline and Isle of Portland, why not explore what the wonderful surrounding areas have to offer. Our accommodation is well served by bus routes to Portland Bill and Weymouth and a local taxi service. The Weymouth and Portland Sailing Academy, Ferrybridge windsurfing sites and Dive Centres are all just a few minutes away by car. Close by are a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants.

Chesil beach

Chesil beach is an 18 mile long stretch of beach from Portland to West Bay. Why not take a stroll along the beach and see a wonderful sunset.
